The thing I liked most about Witch Hunter Robin was definitely the soundtrack! It’s filled with some amazing music by composer Taku Iwasaki. Allay Pain has always been a favourite piece of mine! It’s fairly simple, but so beautiful and just waiting to be expressed in all manners possible. Another great piece from the soundtrack is “Shell” which I plan to cover in the future (guitar version). Looking forward to it, hope you are too! :)

naruto cryingFINALLY!!! It is done! As soon as I found out that Smule, the company that made the Ocarina app for the iPhone, was holding a contest I knew I wanted to do a full ‘orchestral’ version of this song as an entry. Smule team decided that my video was worthy, and I was selected as one of the 10 Final winners to get $1000! :D

So, the repertoire includes my Electric piano, which does ‘strings’ sound as well. My classical guitar was used for the rhythm, and my Chinese pipa was used for the solo. iPhone was used for the ‘flute solo.’ ^_^

Just some background, this took me a LOT of takes to get right. I tried to match the timing as perfectly as I could, but I still notice in some parts its a tiny bit off, but meh, gotta let it go. Also, the pipa solo I’m not too happy with. It was 4 a.m. Friday night and I still hadn’t recorded the pipa and that was all that was left to do. So, I did three takes, and the third one is what you see in the final video (which is far from perfect, I made one big mistake towards the end haha, which makes me cringe sometimes :P hopefully you guys don’t notice it). After the third take I decided to do more, thinking I could get some without any mistakes, but since I was so tired it seemed to just go downhill from there, so I gave up on that and just went with the third take.
